ZHONGHE Case | Lime: Shanxi XL Project

Shanxi XL Resources Company has a production line of lime rotary kiln with kiln type ø4.88×70m and designed daily output of 1000 tons using bituminous coal as fuel. Recently, due to the large fluctuation of mine raw materials, it has led to frequent bonding inside the equipment and difficult cleaning, which has seriously affected the ventilation of the system.

In order to maintain stable production, the company had to increase the amount of pulverized coal, but this caused the problem of pulverized coal waste and insufficient combustion, which led to the formation of rings in the kiln, and the CO concentration at the end of the kiln was as high as 20000ppm.

These problems have seriously affected production efficiency and product quality, and need to be solved urgently.

In view of the above problems, XL company has consulted with our company, hoping to achieve the following goals through burner transformation without changing the existing production conditions:

promote pulverized coal combustion and improve combustion efficiency; Reduce the CO concentration at the kiln tail to less than half of the original; Increase the output of lime rotary kiln.

Our technical department designers arrived at the customer site, had a detailed understanding of the production line, in-depth exchanges with the owner's technical team, and combined with the actual situation of the field process and equipment, tailored to create a new burner - SR5-8Y/33YS four-channel pulverizing coal burner.

The burner has a multi-channel design that allows for a more even distribution of fuel and air, resulting in increased combustion efficiency.

After intense installation and commissioning, the new burner was officially put into use on September 12, 2024. After the field adjustment and optimization of our after-sales engineers, the new burner has a good operation effect.

Concentrated fire and regular flame shape: The new burner makes the fire more concentrated, the flame shape is regular and the live wave is strong, which effectively improves the combustion efficiency.

Production increase: The original output of 900-950 tons/day, now increased to 1000-1050 tons/day, to meet the company's production needs.

Coal consumption reduction: the amount of coal used in the kiln has dropped from 6.5-7 tons/hour to 6-6.5 tons/hour, which effectively reduces the production cost.

The CO content at the end of the kiln decreased: the CO content at the end of the kiln was successfully reduced to between 7000-12000ppm, far lower than the original 20000ppm or more, which improved the production environment.

The kiln head temperature rises: the kiln head temperature rises from 800℃ to more than 900℃, providing better conditions for lime calcination.

The burner transformation project has been a complete success, reaching the design objectives and the owner's use expectations, but also effectively solve the practical problems existing in the production line.

The use of the new burner not only improves the output and combustion efficiency, but also reduces the production cost and improves the production environment.
